"Freedom is not America's gift to the world; it's God's gift to humanity"
- George W. Bush
Since that deadly day in the Garden, humankind has been held captive by fear and self-centeredness and they don’t even know it. Our enemy (‘the Terrorist’) maintains that bondage through many forms of deception and by appealing to the very self-centeredness and fear that is both familiar and captivating. Jesus assumed that people were held captive when He declared his mission;
"The Spirit of the LORD is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free." Luke 4:18 NLT
Employing self-discipline to self improve and failing; or perhaps even worse, finding some success through self-discipline and becoming judgmental and frustrated by others who fail, people remain paralyzed. This is not only a problem in the world of unbelievers, but for sincere believers who, while already free in Christ, remain paralyzed by the same ‘try hard/give up’ cycle found in the world.
“So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don't get tied up again in slavery to the law.” Galatians 5:1 NLT
If you are in Christ Jesus, you are already free... the right leader, better laws and the best education won’t set people free... they won’t set you free. Discover the freedom that is already yours in Jesus and live in freedom today!
