It's No Mystery

by Karl Kakadelis

How does the Christian life work? It seems as though many of us in the Christian community have made a deliberate effort to complicate the Gospel of Scripture. Perhaps I am the "chief of sinners" in this regard with all of my diagrams and squiggly lines.

I am realizing more and more that the Gospel must be simple, so simple that no one is excluded from it's liberating truth. The apostle Paul writes;

"the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the saints. To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory." Col. 1:26,27

The Christian life therefore can only be lived out of the reality of a believer's identity in Christ. I like this quote I recently found from Maj. Ian Thomas;

"To be in Christ. that is redemption,
    but for Christ to be in you. that is sanctification!
To be in Christ. that makes you fit for heaven,
    but for Christ to be in you. that makes you fit for earth.
To be in Christ. that changes your destination,
    but for Christ to be in you, that changes you destiny.
The one makes heaven your home.
    the other makes this world His workshop."

It is one thing to be saved from hell, it is quite another to live in freedom today!
