Living From the New Heart Jesus Gave You

by Karl Kakadelis

What's your 'heart condition?' So often we zero in on the Jeremiah passage that states that the heart is 'deceitfully wicked' and conclude that whatever we do as Christians, we better not live from our hearts.

Now, there maybe a lot of things that you could do without 'heart' (i.e. brush your teeth, cut the lawn, file your taxes.), but without 'heart' it is impossible to do much that has any real significance. In sports, it is often the team that plays with 'heart' that performs the best. If you couldn't expect to win a tennis match without 'heart,' how could we ever expect to live the Christian life without one. and a good one at that.

A friend wrote, "A new heart. That's the new deal. After conversion, after a person is ransomed by Jesus Christ, well then. everything changes."

The 'new deal' to us, was God's deal all along. even before Jesus showed up, our Father knew all along what it was going to take to make people whole: "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you;" (Ex. 36:26) How might our lives be different if we started to live with 'heart?'

. Wow!
