"Its not much farther,You're doing just fine, You're going to make it." These words were given to me by my friend Mike Mathews at the end of a 7-mile hike in the Shenandoah National Park. We were on the final long up hill section and I just couldn't keep up with the other men. I was the last hiker and I was having to stop every 50 yards or so to catch my breath. Mike had chosen to stay with me even though he was our leader. He quietly and patiently walked with me, and his presents alone was an encouragement. On one of my longer rest stops, Mike simply spoke these works to me once. As he said them, I began to think that these are the words the Father says to us when we find ourselves struggling in this world. You know, those times when is seems like everything is working against you and you're tired of trying to move forward. Those days when you wish you could say "Beam me up Jesus" but you know it's not going to happen. I know for myself I've had days when I wish I could go home to be with the Father. However, thanks to friends like Mike, when these days return, they'll reminded me of my Father's loving words of encouragement. Son,"Its not much farther, You're doing just fine, You're going to make it." |
